Clarksville-Montgomery County to Host 2015 and 2016 Basketball Championships

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce that the community will host the 2015 and 2016 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 4th Grade Division One and Division Two Boys’ Basketball National Championships. The tournaments will take place in mid-July of both years.
Traditionally, the AAU Basketball Site Selection Committee meets annually, where they bid on tournaments in advance of two and three years. This very competitive process generally includes bid seekers from cities such as Albuquerque, Houston, Philadelphia, Cincinnati and Detroit. [Read more]

McGregor Park Docks Will Be Closed for the Event Saturday and Sunday
Clarksville, TN – The Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Championship will be taking place on the banks of the Cumberland River in Clarksville, Tennessee, October 27th-28th.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Ken Freeman Outdoor Promotions invite you to see all the action live at McGregor Park. The CVB also wants to announce that the Courtesy Docks located at the park will be closed over the weekend to accommodate the tournament participants.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be opening the doors to their newly remodeled Welcome Center in early 2012. This will be the first update to the center, located at 180 Holiday Drive, in over 20 years.
“The much-needed remodel to the Welcome Center will be ready just in time to start serving the spring and summer tourism traffic that comes to the community. As tourism continues to grow, we knew it was time to move forward on improvements to not only the look, but the function of the center,” said Steve Stroman, Chairman of the CVB Board of Directors.
Clarksville To Host 2012 Miss Tennessee USA Pageants This Week

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville will host 90 young women competing in the upcoming 2012 Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA pageants.
Both events will take place at the Austin Peay State University Music and Mass Communications Building on October 7th and 8th, 2011. This will be Clarksville’s twelfth year hosting the pageants.
The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally visited Clarksville Tennessee

Clarksville, TN – The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally Southern Excursion made their scheduled stop in Clarksville, Tennessee, Thursday afternoon, and left out early on Friday morning on the final leg of their 2500 mile journey. The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally began on September 24th on Florida’s Space Coast and concludes today in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The 2011 locations included Melbourne and Jacksonville FL, Savannah, Atlanta and Peachtree City GA, Charleston, SC, Knoxville, Crossville and Clarksville TN, Scottsville, KY, Anniston AL, and Gulfport MS.
Participants this year included NASCAR legend Geoff Bodine, NASA Shuttle Astronaut Winston Scott, Actor/Activist Kevyn Major Howard along with 40 other teams driving everything from Bentley’s and Camaro’s. Of special note was the 9/11 Pentagon Car which commemorates the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, it is inscribed with the names of the people who died on Flight 77; and the Officer Down car which honors the officers who swore to protect and serve, and did so even at the cost of their lives. Also participating was the DeLorean “Time Car” from Back to the Future, Transformers Bumblebee, and one of the police cars used in the Andy Griffith TV series.

Be A Part Of The Action
Clarksville, TN – On September 29th, Clarksville, TN will welcome 46 teams to town as part of a 2,500 mile Southeastern race and scavenger hunt that will benefit the local F.U.E.L. program. F.U.E.L. is a non-profit program that helps feed needy children whose only access to food is what they receive at school.
The Fireball Run Adventurally, sponsored by Chevrolet, will begin in Melbourne, FL on September 23rd and eventually reach their final destination in Gulfport, MS on October 1st.

Clarksville, TN – Due to unseasonably chilly weather and a blustery wind, the third day of Rivers and Spires looked like it was going to end with a whimper rather than a bang, the victim of the unpredictable spring weather. However as the afternoon wore on, more and more people showed up to enjoy all that the festival had to offer. “The crowd hung in even though we had monsoon winds and rains, and I think it says a lot about this festival, and how much people enjoy it” said Festival Manager Doug Barber.

Clarksville, TN – The best and brightest were spotlighted at Southeast Festivals and Events Kaleidoscope Awards. Hosted at the Stone Mountain Inn, St. Mountain, Georgia, February 21st-23rd, the ceremony was held in conjunction with the annual Southeast Festivals and Events (SFEA) conference. Top festivals and events throughout the southeast were recognized for their outstanding contribution to the events industry.
Clarksville’s own Rivers and Spires Festival won Gold this year for Best Festival With a Budget Over $75,000. This adds to the already impressive lineup of awards the festival has received since its inception in 2003. Rivers and Spires Festival Announces 2011 Headliner

Clarksville, TN. The Rivers and Spires Festival is thrilled to announce that Grammy and CMA award-winning country music singer/songwriter Clint Black will be the featured headliner at the 2011 Festival. Black will take the stage as the main event on Saturday night, April 16, 2011. The concert is free and open to the public.
Black is recognized for his string of hits in the 90’s such as Killin’ Time, Nothin’ But The Taillights, Like The Rain and No Time to Kill. Many also know him from his appearance in the film Maverick, special appearance on Extreme Makeover Home Edition and his stint on Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump. Black has had more than 30 singles on the U.S. Billboard country charts and of those, 22 were number ones. During his 14 years signed with RCA Records, Black had sold more than 12 million albums. In the early 2000’s, Black formed his own record label, Equity Music Group.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville will host 97 young women competing in the upcoming 2011 Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA pageants.
Both events will take place at the Austin Peay State University Music and Mass Communications Building on October 15th and 16th, 2010. This will be Clarksville’s eleventh year hosting the pageants.
Theresa Harrington, Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau said, “We are looking forward to hosting the pageants and welcoming the delegates, their families and supporters to Clarksville-Montgomery County. There are delegates competing from all over the state of Tennessee and we are happy to have them here to experience our community.”
