Austin Peay State University students traveled to Wisconsin for annual MathFest Conference

Clarksville, TN – In early August, when many students dread the approaching academic year, seven Austin Peay State University students eagerly jumpstarted their semester by traveling to Madison, WI, for the Mathematics Association of America’s annual MathFest Conference.
Four of the students gave presentations, one student had a job interview with the National Security Agency and another student developed plans to found a chapter of the National Association of Women in Mathematics at APSU. [Read more]

United States Colored Troops Living History Association Hosts Annual Conference in Clarksville October 19th-21st

Clarksville, TN – The United States Colored Troops Living History Association’s annual national meeting will be October 19th-21st in Clarksville, TN at Riverview Inn, 50 College Street.
The United States Colored Troops Living History Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and accurately interpret the history of the United States Colored Troops of the American Civil War and those that supported their efforts to abolish slavery and preserve the Union and to educate the public and promote research of the history and legacy of those who served in the Civil War. G.I. Jobs Magazine names Austin Peay State University Military Friendly School for 2013

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as Military Friendly School for 2013.
The honor ranks APSU in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, according to a letter from the magazine’s publisher, Rich McCormack. The magazine surveyed more than 12,000 schools, according to the announcement. [Read more]
APSU to receive Green Certification from the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County on September 10th

Clarksville, TN – In the last several years, Austin Peay State University has worked steadily to become a more environmentally friendly institution. A sustainable campus fee was developed in 2008 to fund green initiatives, such as recycling projects, energy and water conservation and the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles.
The University has also added solar panels at the APSU Environmental Education Center, installed Brita Hydration Stations to the residence halls and put in better irrigation systems for landscaping in certain areas of campus. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University named “2012 Great College To Work For”

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
In addition, APSU was the only public university in Tennessee to make the list.
The results, released today in The Chronicle’s fifth annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 46,000 employees at 294 colleges and universities.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board announces Kay Drew as New Chairman

Chi Omega chapter donates painting to APSU in honor of 40 years on campus

Clarksville, TN – A new painting will soon hang in Harned Hall, on the Austin Peay State University campus. The artwork – a watercolor of the University’s quadrangle – was recently donated to the school by the artist, Lynne Waters Griffey, in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Sigma Kappa chapter of the Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity at APSU.
The print will hang with a plaque, acknowledging it as a gift from the chapter to the University.
Eighth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference is June 7th and 8th with Pulitzer Prize Winner Alex S. Jones as Keynote Speaker

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council is pleased to announce the Eighth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, being held June 7th and 8th, 2012, on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker Alex S. Jones, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, author of Losing the News: The Future of the News that Feeds Democracy, and co-author of The Patriarch: The Rise and Fall of the Bingham Dynasty with Susan E. Tifft.
Jones, who is currently the director of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, will speak at the conference banquet at the Clarksville Country Club on the evening of Thursday, June 7th. [Read more]
